A massive congratulations and thank you to Matt Freeman, who ran the Riga Half Marathon last weekend for the Children’s Cancer Research Fund, raising a whopping £2k!
Matt ran in memory of his niece, Abigail. Like our namesake, Rosie, Abigail lost her life because of neuroblastoma – a rare type of childhood cancer that develops from a very early type of nerve cell, which is left over from development in the womb. You can read Matt’s and Abbie’s story below.
Says Matt (pictured far right), “The half marathon was a great experience, although it chucked it down all day! Abbie was very much on my mind before and during and I was proud to do this for the charity.”
Matt has raised almost £2,000 for children’s cancer research. Just fantastic! And a huge thank you to everyone that supported him and donated.
That money will go towards our next research grant call to fund life-changing and life-saving new research for children with cancer.

Matt and Abigail’s story:
In March 2024 my wonderful niece Abigail Ford died at the age of 10, following a three year battle with neuroblastoma. She was a total maniac – full of energy and sass and we miss her every day.
Like lots of other children with neuroblastoma, Abi’s diagnosis came way too late and by that point the outlook wasn’t great, and the treatments really harsh. Research is the only thing that will change that for others, so if you can, please give a donation and share this with others!
